Mezzo-soprano Virpi Räisänen, one of the most sought after Finnish female singers, has garnered an impressive list of honours and achievements both as a mezzo-soprano and earlier as a concert violinist. After finishing her singing diploma with highest distinction she has launched a blooming international  career as an operasinger and concertsoloist on stages such as Milano La Scala, Beliner Philharmomie, Berlin State Opera, Royal Concertgebouw Amaterdam, Dutch National Opera, Tokyo Suntory and Bunka Kaikan etc.

Virpi Räisänen’s warm mezzo voice and strong musicality is leading her from one success to another. Besides mastering the traditional mezzo soprano repertoire, she has also established herself as a champion of contemporary music having world premiered dozens of new works, most of them written  and dedicated to her.

Virpi's season 2023-24 starts with exciting world premiere of Olga Neuwirth's Orlando's World with Tokyo Symphony Orchestra in magical Suntory Hall and continues with Ligeti Requiem in Philharmonie Essen. Another world premiere will follow with Lara Poe's Songcycle with Finnish orchestras. Virpi's active collaboration with chamber music ensembles continues also this season. Several concerts together with wonderful Quatuor Danel can be heard in UK and The Netherlands
